GWENT Young Farmers' Clubs have staged their Festival of Entertainments in a new venue this year - the Main Hall of Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls.
The capacity crowd were entertained by four, 30 minute productions which were full of colour, humour, dancing and music. The adjudicator, Marie O'Sullivan from the Guild of Drama Adjudicators, was very impressed with the standard of all four productions and stated that the young people had really put on some very professional performances.
Trevor Edwards, NFU Mutual Local Director, assisted with the presentation of awards which the NFU Mutual had kindly sponsored.
Results were: 1 Usk YFC, A Century of Change, written and performed by Usk YFC members and produced by Bev Baker and Jenny Hood; 2 Abergavenny YFC Wonder Web, written by Liz Davies and produced by Liz Davies and Pat Griffiths; 3 Raglan YFC Fingerprince written by Neil Jennings, produced by Myra Bowen. Best Female Performer: Kimberley Stamworth, Bedwas YFC. Best Male Performer: Neil Jennings, Raglan YFC. Best Under 16 years of age Performer: Royston Price, Raglan YFC. Best Overall Performance: Ceri Jones, Tom Arthur and Gareth Jones (Grumpy, Sneezy and Dopey).
Usk YFC will now represent the county at the Wales Final which will be held at Theatre Haddfren in Newtown, Montgomery, on Sunday, April 22nd, provided foot and mouth restrictions have been cleared.
