SIR,
Monmouth Town Council contributes around £6,000 towards Monmouth Festival each year for a two week period of 'free to go' entertainment.
This caters for all ages from the very young to the not so young. It boasts a small army of unpaid volunteers who work very hard, bringing together both older and younger people "who from some quarters in our town totally disrespect our younger people to the point of being very rude and insulting."
There is a considerable amount of money being collected for various charities at the festival, from not only Monmouth residents but from all over the country and no doubt it encourages our younger residents to join in and help with other projects around Monmouth.
I believe this money is well spent and for this money to be spent on cameras instead is selfish and short sighted.
