THE last two nights of the Monmouth Festival will see the curtain drawn on one of the largest free festivals in the country.
From 7pm tonight, 4th August, there will be a wealth of entertainment at all three festival venues. The Three Horseshoes showcases the talents of singer/songwriter Josh Kemp from 8pm followed at 9pm by the charismatic folk/punk musician Jake Martin. Meanwhile, the other end of the musical spectrum is catered for at St Mary’s Church with the fantastic Blaenavon Male Voice Choir at 7pm.
The main stage in Blestium Street cracks off at 8pm with ‘I Keep The Wolves Away’, a three piece indie outfit whose musical talents range from ballads to riff-driven rockers.
Finally tonight, stand by for the king of rock and roll as ‘King Rocker’ swaps his blue suede shoes for denim and leather. Prepare yourself for a shock when ‘Elvis’ performs music from AC/DC to ZZ Top and Queen, and the king of rock meets the monsters of rock!
The last night of the nine day festival, Saturday 5th August, promises to be an evening to remember. The entertainment starts with ‘Late Night Legacy’ who will blast your senses with a relentless high energy performance of uplifting funk rock.
The grande finale though, is guaranteed to get you singing.
Forever Jackson will salute 30 years of Michael Jackson’s Bad album. Robin Parsons pays true homage to the late great Michael Jackson and sings and moves like the man himself.
As well as honouring the platinum-selling album, the lavish production takes you from The Jackson 5, through The Jacksons and onto the great man’s rise to become the king of pop including Can You Feel It, Billie Jean, Thriller and Man in the Mirror.
As always the free festival relies on bucket donations to keep going. The organisers have been hit by a few nights of bad weather, so really need your support for these last two nights. Go along, dance away and give generously if you want to see this level of entertainment next year.
