The latest provisional data shows that agriculture, forestry and fishing continues to have the highest rate of work-related fatal injuries of any major industry in Great Britain, with 29 fatalities in 2025 to 2026, including 22 workers and 7 members of the public.

3 of those members of the public were children, while half of all worker fatalities were to those aged over 65.

Over the last 5 years, the industry has averaged 28 work-related deaths per year, with a fatality rate 5 times higher than construction and 21 times higher than the all-industry average.

Vehicles continue to be the leading cause of fatal incidents, alongside falls from height, falling objects, animals and machinery.
