After a trial period of about a year between co-mingled (everything in one sack) and black box recycling, on the third of June these figures were presented to the County Council:
Monmouthshire Recycling (Black Box) £175.37 per ton, in house (co-mingled) £147.92 per ton.
Monmouthshire Community Recycling's quote for three years was £710,000 for the whole county and works out at about £100 per ton on projected performance and was underwritten by our parent company.
The County Council's in house quote last year was £800,000 per annum, which is estimated to have gone up to £984,555 per annum.
The in-house recycling chosen by the County Council would cost £823,000 more than Monmouthshire Community Recycling's publicly reported price for a three year contract using current figures.
