SIR,
It is a cause for celebration that Monmouth Market is finally returning to its rightful place in Agincourt Square on 29th October.
It should be remembered that it is only because the people of Monmouth were so vociferous in their demands that the market is to return.
With more than 3,500 people signing a petition, as well as lobbying their representatives, Monmouthshire County Council finally saw sense.
This should serve as a lesson as to what can be achieved if we are willing to fight for our rights.
While the final decision to have the market in two places may not be to everyone's liking, we are at least assured of a viable market in the hub of the town.
It is now incumbent on everyone to ensure the market is successful by supporting it from the outset and making sure the centre of Monmouth is once again an attractive and vibrant area which appeals to locals and visitors alike.
