Emma King will be taking on her own marathon task this April, but instead of relying on cheering crowds to motivate her, there is another inspiration.
Emma, from Monmouth, will once again be running the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday 17th April in memory of Rifleman Jamie Gunn, who was killed during his first tour of Afghanistan in February 2009.
She will be raising much-needed funds for ABF The Soldiers' Charity, the national charity of the British Army.
The Soldiers' Charity supported Jamie's family through one of the hardest things a family could possibly go through.
They help soldiers and their dependants while they are in the Army and after they have left, they help people in desperate situations who have no-one to turn to, such as families coping with tragic loss, homelessness or retraining a disabled soldier for a new career.
Emma King was so moved by the sacrifice Jamie made for his country that she wanted to do something in honour of our soldiers.
When she ran the marathon last year she raised a phenomenal £4,220 but is hoping to smash her target once again.
Jamie's mother, Janet Gunn, said: "I am so touched by the effort put in to fundraising by Jamie's friends like Emma.
"It's great when people put their hands in their pockets to donate money but they have gone so much further.
"Their commitment and drive is truly humbling. I know how much I loved my boy but this shows me how much he meant to other people too."
To help her reach her fundraising target there will be a repeat of the girls vs boys netball match held at Monmouth Leisure Centre on Sunday 1st May from 1pm.
There will be a disco that evening at Monmouth Rugby Club, so come along and show your support.
