There are only 32 days to go until residents of Monmouthshire have their first chance to celebrate that the Eisteddfod is on its way to the county for the first time in over a century.
The Proclamation Festival will be held at Caldicot Castle on Saturday 27th June, with plenty of activities and performances in the town centre during the day to give a taste of the Eisteddfod locally.
The Gorsedd of Bards will walk through the town as part of a special ceremony which has been held for well over a hundred years, and the procession will finish in the castle grounds, where chairman of the local Eisteddfod Executive Committee, Frank Olding, will present the first copy of the list of competitions (Rhestr Testunau) to the Archdruid, Christine. The list will then become public allowing poets, writers, singers – anyone interested in competing next year – to find out more about the competitions.
The Monmouthshire and District National Eisteddfod will be held on the outskirts of Abergavenny from 29th July – 6th August 2016. For more information go online to the website: http://www.eisteddfod.org.uk">www.eisteddfod.org.uk.
