SIR, You may have heard recently that the National Eisteddfod is coming to Monmouthshire in 2016, and it was wonderful to receive an official invitation by the members of Monmouthshire County Council a few weeks ago. The interest and enthusiasm since the announcement has been very encouraging, and many locally and nationally are looking forward to visiting an area which has not had the opportunity to host the festival for many years, although successful festivals have been held in the southeast relatively recently, namely in Blaenau Gwent in 2010, and Newport in 2004. To move things forward, you are cordially invited to attend a public meeting at Abergavenny Market Hall on Thursday 17th July at 6.30 pm. This meeting will be an opportunity to learn more about Eisteddfod, and how to get involved in the community based and led project which organises the festival. This is why we are sending this letter out to individuals, local members of the Eisteddfod Court, community councils and some of the numerous societies across the county. It would be impossible to contact everyone, we therefore kindly seek your assistance to circulate this invitation to other groups and potentially interested parties and to encourage them to attend. If you are interested in being on a subject committee, assisting with establishing the local appeal fund or just want to show your support, there will be a warm welcome awaiting you at the Market Hall. There will be simultaneous translation service available for the meeting. If you cannot attend, but would like to support would you please be as kind as to drop a line by post or e-mail to me specifying your area of interest [email protected]">[email protected] Thank you in advance for your support and we look forward to meeting you on 17th July.
