TRELLECH’s Babington Centre played host to the iColour Education’s summer school of creative dance last week.

A total of 23 students (aged 8 to 15) from Trellech, Overmonnow, Redbrook and Osbaston primary schools, as well as Monmouth Comprehensive School (MCS) and Haberdashers School for Girls took part in a five-day celebration of the silver screen’s surprise hit The Greatest Showman.

Through the medium of dance, junior and senior students retold the story of PT Barnum and his performing circus group.

Vicky Evans, founder of iColour Education set out initially to complete one big show routine a day with the children, but as it turned out the cast were so talented, enthusiastic and committed this doubled and a wonderful piece of dance theatre evolved. Year 9 students at MCS were also able to complete aspects of their Bronze Arts Award programme which they have been working on since Easter with Vicky.

Special thanks were given to young leaders Isabelle Tait and Lucy Creasy for their support during the project.
