Chepstow School is delighted to report unprecedented success in this year’s GCSE examination results.
Pupils have performed at levels significantly above national averages in many subjects with outstanding performances. 90 per cent of pupils have achieved more than 5 qualifications at grades A*-C and almost half achieved 5 qualifications at A*-A. 84 per cent of Chepstow pupils have achieved a qualification in Mathematics at grade C or above and 46 per cent received either an A*-A. Additionally, 87 per cent of pupils achieved a qualification in English at grade C or above and 42 per cent of those achieved an A* or A. These are excellent results, reflected in all subjects. At Chepstow School our pupils have demonstrated that they can achieve at the very highest level proving our continual commitment to raising standards.
Chepstow pupil Anna Langdon achieved an exceptional 16A*, 1A, 1B which is in addition to an A grade in AS Spanish. Some other individual successes include Harrison Coppen, Sorcha Greenhalgh, William Higgins, Megan Pantry and Harrison Postans who have all achieved at least 14A*-As. A special mention goes to Noah Herniman, who was last year diagnosed with an inoperable tumour at the core of his brain. Noah is an inspirational young man and despite undergoing very arduous treatment, managed to complete 5 GCSE examinations, gaining C grades in Mathematics, Numeracy, History, English Literature and a B in English Language. Headteacher, Kelly Bowd said: ‘Our young people should be exceptionally proud of these examination results. This success is record breaking in many areas and a just reward for the commitment the pupils and staff have demonstrated in exceptional circumstances. These results equip our young people to move on to the next phase of their lives and we are delighted to be working with them in our sixth form provision.’ The school’s Chair of Governors, Judith Langdon, said “We are very proud of all our young people, especially with the challenges that they have had to face during the course of their GCSE learning. These results really are a testament to their ambition and perseverance. I would like to thank all of the teachers and staff for their hard work, dedication and outstanding pastoral care, and our parents and families for their support.”
