The governing body at Cross Ash Primary School has achieved the Bronze Award, a benchmark against which governing bodies can assess their effectiveness.
Headteacher Laura Perrett paid tribute to the governors and their chairman Dr Sarah Neville for being one of the few governing bodies in Wales to achieve the prestigious award.
The award benefits not only the day-to-day operation of the school but is beneficial when representatives from the governing body meet with representatives of Estyn to show that they are meeting their statutory requirements.
The Quality Mark is centred on an audit of policy and procedural documentation with governing bodies required to build a portfolio of evidence based on a checklist designed to enhance and improve their effectiveness.
Achieving the Quality Mark Bronze Award is a celebration of the success of the governing body and its role within the school and in raising standards.
“The pupils and families at Cross Ash Primary School are fortunate to have such a committed governing body who individually give above and beyond in their voluntary roles,” added Laura.
