SIR,

I have yet to make up my mind on the referendum vote, so have been interested in the letters for and against.

I was, however, shocked at Peter Edwardson's comment that "the assembly has also managed to let our children's education deteriorate down to third world levels".

I wonder what he bases this statement on. I have four grandchildren in Welsh schools (three at Overmonnow and one at Undy) and in my opinion they are receiving an excellent education.

My granddaughter has learning difficulties and she is making marvellous progress at Overmonnow Special Needs Unit.

I cannot fault the education they are all receiving. I would add that I  have two grandchildren in English schools and in no way is their education superior to the Welsh system.

Please Mr Edwardson, don't knock things just to make a political point.
