Will Rogers travelled to the Scottish Border regions to team up with Gary McLoed, brother of his regular driver Ruary, for Sunday's Galloway Hills Rally.
For Gary, it was his first ever event, although he had the benefit of a day's tuition from former British Champion Mark Higgins.
Forty-two snow-covered miles were on offer in Dalbeattie, Glen Gap and Cairn Edward forests.
The duo, using Ruary's Honda Civic as he had stepped up to a Fiesta ST, found the opening test covered in snow.
Despite being on a full ice tyre it passed without incident and even a puncture at the end of the next test cost very little time.
Stage 3, the eight-miler in Dalbeattie, saw them drop 20 seconds to their rivals as they found it hard to get a rhythm going in the stage.
Despite this, McLoed was settling in to his debut event very well in tricky conditions. The final two stages passed without incident and the duo arrived back at the finish very pleased with 20th overall, third in class,in the RP Joinery Civic.
"Gary has driven very well on his debut in difficult conditions, the Maxsport ice and snow tyres worked really well," said Will.
"Ruary has only just beaten us, so it has been a good day all round."
