BT engineers were forced to cut telephone lines following a collision at a junction north of the village of Newcastle on 6th July.

An Audi Q3 failed to make the turn for Cross Ash at a junction known locally as 'The Old Boot' and ended up in the opposite hedge.

It hit the stay for the telephone pole, which broke the top of the pole and damaged the wires.

BT engineers arrived on the scene and made the area safe by removing the top section of the pole and cutting through the many telephone cables attached to it, leaving locals with no telephone and internet access.

The female driver was shaken but unhurt.
