THE Monmouth Visually Impaired Club will be buoyed after a significant donation from Monmouth Waitrose through its community matters program
The club has received £558 which will help in its general running and transport of its members to and from meetings.
Chairman Terry Christopher thanked Waitrose and the customers of Waitrose for their generosity and talked about what it will mean for the club, he said:
“It is a tremendous boost, it will enable us now to continue to provide transport for our members to and from meetings as we do provide free transport for all our member to whatever events we organise.”
Allowing the members of the group to stay involved is crucial because the role it plays for its members.
“It’s a means of become involved in the community, the first meeting we have is a formal meeting where we have speakers and the like and the second meeting we have every month is a social occasion.
“So we normally go for lunch and that means we are all getting out in the community.
“Also when we meet by ourselves we can talk about and solve problems relating to visual impairment and give support to each other.”
