A photography class for disabled learners has started a diary project to record the lives of people in Monmouth.
The Bridges Photography Initiative were joined by photographers Daniel Meadows and Dr Richard Sadler as well as Beacon editor Phil Wilkinson-Jones at a taster session last Friday (1st November) at Drybridge House.
Class tutor Sue Bezani said that after two exhibitions, the group was moving on to a new project all about telling the stories of people's lives.
The group got started by interviewing their guests as well as staff from Building Bridges, a new project funded to the tune of £750,000 by the Big Lottery Fund's Bright New Futures scheme.
Building Bridges will work with young people with disabilities aged 14 to 25 over the next four years.
"We want to help people get more skills, knowledge and confidence in order to take steps into adult life," said project co-ordinator Mike Logan.
"Whatever level of ability people are at, we want to help them take the next step."
The project wants to hear from young disabled people and their carers, as it will work with them and train volunteers to provide the activities and services most wanted in Monmouthshire.
"We will be led by the young people and hopefully at the end of the four years, we will have been able to provide something sustainable that can be carried on."
