SIR,
Last week I was among the many who attended the public meeting regarding the proposed development at Wonastow Road.
It soon became obvious that the councillors present have no regard for public opinion and are intent on pushing this ill-conceived, unwanted, dangerously flawed scheme through planning against the will of the people of Monmouth, at the behest of the WAG, who own the land.
Similar public meetings are taking place across the length and breadth of what is still left of our green and pleasant country.
If there is a local need for extra houses then they should be built as required, not forced on a community for the benefit of people from outside the area, because it is a nice place to live.
