Caldicot band Rusty Shackle will be playing Glastonbury Festival this year. The popular group will also be performing at Devauden Music Festival on Friday (16th May) on Devauden Green. The 'folk and roll' six-piece band announced the news on Facebook and gained almost 500 'likes' from proud fans, waiting to watch the band as they play at the world-famous festival along-side bands such as Metallica and Kasabian. Rusty Shackle formed in 2010 but have enjoyed flourishing success ever since. They were spotted at last year's Cambridge Folk Festival and invited to play Glastonbury by organisers. The band is made up of guitar player and vocalist Liam Collins, fiddle and banjo player Scott McKeon, guitar player and vocalist James McKeon, trumpeter and guitarist Ryan Williams, bass player Baz Barwick and drummer Owen Emmanuel. All from Caldicot, five of the boys attended Caldicot School. 28-year-old vocalist Liam said: "We knew about the festival at Christmas but we had to keep quiet for five months. "It's incredible that we will be there, and playing alongside some epic bands. I mean, who doesn't want to share a festival with Dolly Parton? "Metallica and Kasabian are big inspirations, they use different sounds and prove that you can be yourself with your music." The band will be returning for the Glastonbury gig following their first tour of America. The nine-day tour will see the group travel to places like New Orleans, Nashville and Houston to play in various festivals. The Devauden Music Festival will kick off its jam-packed line-up of events on Friday (16th May). The growing festival will run over Friday and Saturday and features many talented artists from Monmouthshire and further afield. Bands playing on Friday include: The Anthill Mob, Meg Cox the Celtic fiddle player, Railroad Bill and Ellie Makes Music. Rusty Shackle will also play on Friday. The big Saturday line-up includes Don't Tell Johnny, Houdini Dax, Jon Lilygreen and the Rock Choir. Tickets are still available at http://www.devauden">www.devauden festival.co.uk
