NATASHA Hamm who plays for England's deaf football team was the first ever deaf woman’s goalkeeper to score not just one goal but three in the world futsal cup which was held in Italy this year.

Natasha is the goalkeeper for England and Great Britain’s Deaf womans football team and was given the opportunity to play in the futsal world cup.

From a background of playing football from a young age at just 14 years old as a defender playing for Ross Town Ladies and Ellwood ladies' football, Natasha’s passion for football was instilled from a young age.

“When I was 19, I got picked to play for the Deaf Woman’s Great Britain football team.”

“Playing futsal is a whole different experience for me as it is a much faster and quicker paste game.”

“It is also more physically and mentally challenging for me, as I have to concentrate more.”

“I scored my first goal in our very first game which was against Sweden, we won 5-0, the second goal I scored was in our very next game against Italy, we won 5-0, my third goal was in our fifth game which was against the world champions Japan and we won 3-1.”

Due to Natasha’s high performance, her coach awarded her the match flag which is exchanged at the beginning of each game to Natasha in their sixth game in which they won 2-0.

“Playing in Italy was an experience I will never forget, not just for playing but for all the support we received from the fans which came with us and all our family and friends back home,” said Natasha.

“I can’t thank them all enough.”

Natasha is now looking ahead to the Deaf Olympics in Tokyo in November, where she will be playing for the Deaf Woman’s Great Britain football team.
