Two unique discoveries from pre-Norman Dark Age Wales are published today by Monmouth Archaeological Society in conjunction with its two professional Archaeological Units.
A silver pyramidal sword fitting, similar to two gold ones found in the famous ship burial of the King of East Anglia at Sutton Hoo, has just been identified from an excavation at 22-24 Monnow Street – the town's main thoroughfare (now Merlin's).
