SIR, The daffodils this year have been truly gorgeous and just everywhere is looking good - except on Chippenham Mead. I assume the first shoots were mown off early in the season by an enthusiastic machine as all the heads have been cut off. What a great shame as Chippenham is always such a joy and asset to the town. Hopefully next year the bulbs will have recovered and the mower will keep away from the edges. Jeana Hall (Monmouth)
