SIR,
Thank you to everyone who came along to support the England Dads versus Wales Dads game on Sunday at the Sports Ground.
Congratulations to the Welsh on winning 4 – 1 in a great game.
In all we are due to raise over £2,500 through player sponsorship, barbecue, raffle, programme sales and donations from the tea table.
A large part of the fundraising was approaching certain local businesses and asking them to donate raffle prizes.
Not withstanding today's economy and undoubted tough times on our local businesses, I have to say I was overwhelmed with the support and response.
Therefore I would like to say thank you (in no particular order) to; Handyman House, Monnow Fish and Chip Bar, Wetherspoons, the Wye Valley Hotel, Mon Cacao Chocolate shop, the Hair & Beauty Studios, Bridges Tearoom, Le Gourmet Butchers, Hancocks Butchers, Costa Coffee, Stuart Ward Haulage, Tony Collins Windows, Symonds Yat Park, Ace taxis and Glaxo Smith Kleine Coleford.
In addition, prizes were donated from local people, people connected with the hospice, players, mums and dads – and even including a bottle of champagne from Alan and Becky Powell's wedding.
Special thanks to all those who helped on the day including the managers; Tony Collins and Ian Morgan, all the players, Steve and Lesley East, Nick and Sharon Oxford, Tracey Keane, Jemma Woskett-Collins, Andy 'PR man' Smith, Kris, Pat and Tracy at St David's Hospice.
I am sure that I can speak from everyone at St David's Hospice and say a big thank you.
Kevin Johnson
