An ex-pat Monmothian is preparing to take on an 870-mile Australian golf course – on foot.

Ultrarunner Andrew Bowen is planning to play the the world's longest golf course, the Nullarbor Links, in 16 days. That means running more than 54 miles every day, without a day off.

The 39-year-old father of two was born and brought up in Monmouth, but now lives in Noosa, Queensland, Australia.

He will be running with a support crew of four; two to look after him and two to film his progress.

The aim of the challenge is to raise more than $50,000 for charities that Andrew has a close affiliation with; Autism Spectrum Australia (ASPECT) the country's largest not-for-profit autism specific service provider, who's vision it is to overcome the isolation of autism, and the Splash of Red Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to raising awareness and much-needed funds for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Sudden Unexpected Death in Childhood (SUDC) support and research programs.
