A group of three cyclists from Monmouth completed their charity cyclathon last Friday (15th June).
Sue and Lucy Hughes and Sandie Stephens were cycling in aid of The Society for the Welfare of Horses and Ponies (SWHP) in St Maughans.
"It was really up and down, some of the hills were amazing," said Sue.
"Our aim is to raise not just money but awareness for the charity too."
The cyclists travelled from Ludlow Racecourse to Hereford and Worcester, followed by stops at Stratford Upon Avon, Cheltenham and Bath before finishing at Chepstow on Friday 15th June.
Cycling almost 200 miles in four days, the team are still counting the money raised but so far the total can be estimated at around £2,000. £600 alone was raised at a bucket collection as the cyclathon ended at Chepstow Racecourse on Friday.
The money raised from the cyclathon will be put towards the continued upkeep of the rescue stables, which racks up around half a million pounds worth of expenses each year.
Donations for the group can still be made at http://www.swhp.co.uk">www.swhp.co.uk or Just Text Giving at vodaphone. Text: SWHP22 plus amount max .£10 a time to 70070 – as many times as you like.
