MADAM,
Faced with yet another hike in Council Tax, a hefty 13.2% on top of last year's outrageous 18.3%, I just wonder how much longer the Welsh National Assembly and the Monmouthshire County Council feel that they can go on asking us all to meet these demands?
The Council Tax for our property has risen by 68% over the last five years - 13.6% per annum. How can such increases be justified when the underlying rate of inflation during the same period has run at under 3% and is now down at 1.9%?
It is all very well for the Monmouthshire County Council to blame it all on the National Assembly, but hasn't the time come for us all to stand up and complain about what is going on? Indeed, what is going on? Are our elected officials out of control? Is there someone out there who would like to explain, better still is there someone out there who is prepared to be called to account for what appears to be profligate expenditure of taxpayers' money.
