MADAM,
Please may we thank, in print, a group of people of whom Monmouth is probably completely unaware.
Most local people will not have realised that for the last two years at least, their walks across Vauxhall, Drybridge Park and Nature Pond have been kept litter-free by David Reed and his team. Locals may also be unaware that the whole team or their partners suffers from Parkinson’s disease. If you have spotted a sign saying ’Recently cleaned by volunteers’ it was more than likely, one of theirs. Impressive?
David has unfortunately damaged his knee and cannot continue to manage the team, leaving a serious void. Two members of our group have volunteered to keep Vauxhall looking good in the short term, but anyone who could spare some time on this would be gratefully welcomed. Are you one of those, like David, quietly taking care of your own area, without expecting praise or acknowledgement? Meanwhile, the litter-droppers and careless dog owners are only too obvious!
The group is planning a major all-age spring clean in early April, in time for Easter. Look out for the posters, social media alerts and prizes. If you would like to contact us before then, we have plenty of ideas to keep Monmouth looking pristine.
Please phone 07762468903.
