THE managing director of a Monmouth store has spoken out against the “ridiculous” narrowing of the road at the top of Monnow Street, or ‘Pinch Point’.

Jon Petrie, Managing Director at DS Music, spoke out after a coach drove into the store last Friday afternoon (17th June). The coach collided with the store when it rode the pavement seemingly to avoid traffic.

“Since the council put in the narrow road ‘give and take’ system there has been endless trouble with drivers shouting and pressing their horn at other drivers, two cars going down the narrow road at the same time by driving over the pavement, along with people parking on the extended pavement in the area,” he said.

“It’s made this section of the road more dangerous for pedestrians than it was before and the system clearly does not work.”
