Savoy Youth Theatre is proud to be taking part in this year’s National Theatre Connections Festival, a nationwide youth theatre festival that commissions new plays for young people to perform, offering participants the chance to explore new writing and perform on professional stages.
Since January, a group from the SYT seniors have been rehearsing Macbeth, Macbeth, Macbeth, Macbeth, Macbeth, a play written by Kirsty Housley exclusively for the National Theatre Connections Festival.
Led by directors Sam Densham, Junior Mujica and Greg Densham, the project has provided a space for young people to build confidence, further develop their performance skills and explore and expand their creativity in a supportive environment.
As part of their NT Connections journey, the group took to the stage last week for their home performance, which took place in the Melville Theatre, Abergavenny. Their performance highlighted the dedication and teamwork of the group, who have worked intensively over the past few months to bring the piece to life. They received incredible feedback, both from their audience and their NT Connections Mentor.
Next, the Savoy Youth Theatre is travelling to Cardiff, to their partner theatre, the Sherman Theatre. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity where they will be performing on a professional stage alongside other youth groups from across the region. With an audience of over 400, it will be the biggest stage they have ever performed on and it would be wonderful to see some local faces in the audience!
If you'd like to go along and support our local youth theatre, tickets are available on the Sherman Website for just £6 per person. Savoy Youth Theatre is performing at 7pm on the 25th of April!
Connections is the National Theatre’s annual, nationwide youth theatre festival, and commissions new plays for young people to perform. Southwark Playhouse are proud to be hosting the Connections festival for the third time.
