THE small community of Tredunnock has dug deep to help fund the installation of a defibrillator in the village’s bus stop.

For more than a year fundraising has been held, donations have been collected and preparations have been made for the defibrillator which has now been installed.

David Banning-Lover, chairman of the Tredunnock defibrillator committee, said: “It has been a bit over a year since we decided to go to the British Heart Foundation to apply. It has helped really bring the village together.”

In that time fundraisers such as a wine and cheese night held to reach the target and collection boxes were placed at local pubs and in the Church of St Andrew.

The Abergavenny Round Table Club and Llanhennock Community Council also donated money to help reach the final total of more then £1,600.

The work has not stopped with the installation either, next month a training session will be held to help the public use the defibrillator.

It will be held on Thursday 15th February at 7pm at Tredunnock House (the Old Rectory). Anyone is welcome to attend the session to learn about CPR and how to use a defibrillator, no previous experience is needed.

Mr David Banning-Lover said having this equipment will be a great help to the community.

He said: “We have a lot of cyclists pass through here so it will be a great asset for the community because we are really quite rural, it’s also close to the church.

“We hope that training will not only help people be able to use the defibrillator here but others around the county.”
