WITH Blaenavon Quins pulling out of the planned fixture, Raglan played a pool game at Bromyard in Herefordshire.
Despite the long journey Raglan's enthusiasm was unaffected and for long periods they controlled the game. There was an encouraging determination about Raglan's approach, with players hungry for the ball in the loose and all wanting to run at the opposition.
In the Raglan forwards, Darren Pritchard moved to hooker and Haydn Cale to prop, a move which worked well, but there will be sterner tests in the coming weeks.
At the line out Bromyard were denied possession by Andy Howells at the front and Nick Price and Graham Smith taking ball at the tail.
Behind the scrum Toby Smith used the wind to good effect with some pin point line kicking and along with centres Matthew Walduck and Jamie Campbell-Baldwin is showing signs of becoming a potent attacking force.
Raglan scored five first half tries to put the game safe by the interval. Full back Brian Jones scored the first when entering the line at pace and this was followed by two short range efforts from the forwards. Outside half Toby Smith scored the next and a mis-pass in the centre gave wing Joe Paxton the space to round his opposite number for the fifth.
The second half was a more scrappy affair with a number of stoppages and some indiscipline as both teams showed signs of frustration.
Graham Smith had a try disallowed and it was left to veteran hooker Alan Baugh to register the only score of the half.
This Saturday Raglan are away at Old Tylerians.
