PICTURED recently during a gig at The Queens, popular local band, The Cliveden Set, will be taking to the stage of the Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls in the September Spectacular. On Friday September 28th they feature in an evening of Music & Comedy arranged by The Shire Hall Stewards in aid of the Renovation Fund. The Cliveden Set play Syncopated Jazz in the Hot Swing style. Theirs is a unique line-up - first and second guitars, alto sax, clarinet, bass, drums and vocals - Raymondo Martinez, Daniel James, John Plantagenet Smith, Caractacus Downes, Peter Smith, Roger Grey and Bleddyn Richards. The show will also feature Louise Arnold who burst onto the local Musical Comedy scene this year playing Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun, a stunning performance by a newcomer. The on-stage show begins at seven o'clock but from 6.30pm David Hoyle will be improvising on the piano, in the auditorium and will also be playing during the interval. The full evening of entertainment also includes comedy from Off Centre Theatre and The North Monmouthshire Wind Band. Linking the show with his own unique style will be compere Jim Newcomb. Tickets for September Spectacular, just £5 each, are on sale at the Nelson Museum, Priory Street and the Line of Fire.
