MADAM,

Some time ago the question of a crossing in Cinderhill Street was raised. I believe this was shelved because of the imminent advent of the new Monnow Bridge.

Now, many years on, the one side is narrow, sloping and in a bad state of disrepair. Wheelchairs and mums with prams have difficulty getting along there. When there is a flood alert, sandbags, which I hasten to add are vital, literally block the said pavement.

At these times people have to step into the road to get by. Cars are parked along that side, therefore one has to step into the middle of the road. If the Council are still awaiting the advent of the new bridge, could not some form of traffic calming be initiated? Many motorists think that because Cinderhill Street is a long straight stretch of road it is a racetrack and go belting along far in excess of the speed limit.
