Following the bad news regarding a recent inspection of their church, parishioners have rolled up their sleeves and started fundraising for repairs to the building.

St Mary’s Priory Church has to undergo some urgent repair works to its external stone walls, roofs, parapets, gables, rainwater goods and internal columns on the advice of their architect.

This will require extensive use of scaffolding and the overall cost is likely to exceed £50,000.

As a consequence of Covid, the church funds are very much depleted and were grateful to the carnival committee in allowing them to kickstart the ‘St Mary’s Priory Church Restoration Fund’ and raised £392 on carnival day.

If you would like to help, please visit St Mary’s Priory Church, Monmouth and put your contribution to the ‘St Mary’s Priory Church Restoration Fund’ into their donations cabinet at the rear of the church.
