Readers may be aware that contracts were signed last year for a major redevelopment of St Thomas’ Hall, across the road from St Thomas’ Church, Monmouth. So far, there is little change to the front of the building but at the rear, part of the building has been demolished and replaced by a wonderful new extension.
This will provide a larger main hall, meeting rooms, new kitchen, toilets and other facilities. Work will continue to including providing a new entrance and courtyard off St Thomas’s Square.
The church has been helped with funds from the Welsh Government, various trusts and many donations, but we are continuing to raise funds to equip and finish the hall. To help us, or to find out more, please come to our coffee morning at Monmouth Priory on Saturday 21st January 10am to 12pm, or our networking meeting for groups and organisations active in Overmonnow at the Riverside Hotel on Wednesday 25th January at 3.30pm, or our workshop for people wishing to get involved at Monmouth Priory on Saturday 28th January at 10.30am.
We will re-open the hall in the summer and look forward to providing modern facilities and activities for the community and local organisations.
Steve Martin
Secretary, St Thomas’ Church
