One of Monmouth’s very own is joining Sir Chris Hoy on his Tour de 4 cycle challenge in Glasgow after being diagnosed with stage four advanced prostate cancer.
On Sunday September 7, Chris Davis will be joining Sir Chris Hoy on his Tour de 4-cycle challenge in Glasgow to raise awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer UK and those affected by the disease.
Mr Davis has been Head Coach of Monmouth Haberdashers School’s tennis programme for the past 15 years.
“I am really looking forward to taking on these two challenging and demanding charity events this summer in aid of Prostate Cancer.” Said Mr Davis.
“Both require lots of training both on the golf course at Rolls Golf club and on my bike around the beautiful hills and lanes surrounding Monmouth.”

According to Prostate Cancer UK, one in eight men in the UK will suffer with the disease, but with a family history the chances increase to one in three and for a black man it’s one in four.
Mr Davis said: “I have had numerous conversations with men in our community about this common cancer and the key message of getting a regular PSA check remains as important as ever.”
Chris Davis has raised a total of over £2,000 for this charity.
He will also be attempting a Golf Marathon at the historic Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club which involves playing four rounds back-to-back, taking approximately 14 to 15 hours.
All the money raised from this event will be going towards Prostate Cancer UK.
“I have been simply overwhelmed by the generosity of people and just want to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to them all for their sponsorship anyone wants to donate to this most worthy cause, you can find it on GoFundme Chris Davis.”
