SIR,

My name's Chris Baber. I will be running the Bristol 10Km race in aid of Hearing Dogs for the Deaf and am looking to raise at least £500 in sponsorship and was hoping that your readers may like to help.

Not many people are aware of Hearing Dogs as they don't seem to get the same sort of coverage or are not as well known. I was made aware of the charity through a family friend whose partner had a hearing dog and am now a solid supporter.

Wherever possible the dogs are rescued, but are also donated by breeders and members of the public. Hearing Dogs also has its own breeding scheme in place.

It costs £150 to buy a puppy socialising kit, as well as a bowl, collar, lead and various toys. Each puppy socialise is provided with a special den for the puppy to sleep in safety. It costs £1000 to support a kennel for one year, funding the accommodation and welfare of the dogs at one of the training centres.

While I would love to raise £5000, anything would be greatly appreciated. I can be contacted at: 17 Cornpoppy Avenue, Monmouth, NP25 5SD  (tel: 01600 716653, Mob: 07500056606).
