LAST week's Beacon carried a letter relating to the controversy over tree-planting at Chippenham.
As a newspaper, it is right that our letters page should reflect the views of all sections of the community, but on this occasion we accept that some of the phraseology of the letter was not appropriate.
We would like to offer our sincere apologies to Mr AV Smith for any distress or embarrassment caused, and to anyone else who may have been offended by the comments.
