Chepstow received it's bi-annnual visit from the Twinning group from Cormeilles in Normandy this week.

The visitors were welcomed in grand style on Thursday evening with a banner placed on the town arch by the Town Council, and a reception on Friday morning in Chepstow Castle, at which the Mayor of Chepstow, Cllr Paul Rutter delivered a welcome speech in immaculate French.

The Presidents of the Twinning Associations in Cormeilles and Chepstow, Mme Syvia Zuber and Mrs Sheila Trott responded very kindly.

32 guests from the Cormeilles area were entertained in the houses of members of the Twinning Association in Chepstow and visits to Tredegar House, Cardiff Bay, Big Pit, Caerphilly were all arranged during their five-day visit, as well as a Ceildh with fish and chip supper at the Drill Hall.

There was also a superb ploughman's lunch with entertainment at Mathern Village Hall on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Chepstow Group will make a reciprocal visit to Cormeilles next Summer.
