CHEPSTOW Comprehensive School is celebrating after achieving improved A-level results this year for the third year running.
110 students sat A-level or equivalent qualification, of which 35 per cent achieved the top grades of A* or A. This is an increase of six per cent over last year, and bucks the national trend of a decline in top grades.
Over 20 per cent of students achieved 3 or more A* or A grades this year.
Nearly 25 per cent achieved 2 or more A* A grades and 30 per cent achieved ABB or better, the universities' indicator of top performing students.
78 per cent achieved A*-C.
One student, Isabelle Godfrey, is going to St Ann's College Oxford to read law. She achieved three A* and one A.
Twins Tyler and Tudor Morgan- Huggett both achieved three A* and are both going to UWIC Cardiff to read Sports science.
Twins Dean and Ben Corbett both achieved two A* and a C gaining them both places at university.
Over 80 per cent of students have applied, and been accepted for, university places and all students are progressing to higher or further education, employment or training.
Jamie Goddard, assistant headteacher with responsibility for the sixth form said: "These are exceptional results for an exceptional year group. Not only are they high performers academically, they also contributed so much to the life of the school. I am immensely proud of each and every one of them and I wish them all the best for the next stage of their journey."
