CHEPSTOW and District Round Table have donated funds to assist the Dell Primary School with their new farm project.
The money will help support the new farm at the school which opens up at lunchtimes. The project will be run by Mrs Juliana Foster (aka Farmer Foster) and is situated on a squared off piece of land within the school grounds.
There are a number of children invited to attend the farm to help her run it. Juliana has said “There are plants that need watering. Chickens that need clearing out & eggs to sell as from Monday 18th June.
Weeding and crafting too. The idea is to make crafts/ grow veg to sell to try & run the farm as a business. To introduce the concept to the children of how real businesses run whilst highlighting the value of money to them and that you can only spend the money you have, if you don’t want to get into debt.”?
The farm is intending to hold the first sale to raise funds on 21st June which is selling donated tin cans, decorated by the children themselves, and contains planted flowers/shrubs.
?If you would like to donate anything that you think may be helpful to the children obtain their goal, please contact The Dell Primary School.
?Simon Hicks, Chairman of Chepstow & District Round Table stated “We are happy to help with a donation to help get things off the ground. The children who attend really enjoy having some structure at lunchtimes and the independence to decide on which turn the business will take.”
Round Table will be holding a dinner later in the year to celebrate their 55 years of service to the community. If you are interested in joining Round Table, contact them via their Facebook page.
