This year the Chepstow Comprehensive School music department went live for 24 hours.

They started playing at 5pm on Friday 12th July with a band night, kicking off with Taller Than Ben and many other school bands including Year 7 band, Society, and Sixth Form band, Bone China.

The pupils then had possibly the hottest ceilidh anyone has ever experienced. This was followed by a dinner, kindly donated by Tesco in Chepstow.

Pupils of year 11, 12 and 13 kept the music going throughout the night.

On Saturday morning at around 6.30am, Year 7 came to the rescue and performed their slots.

Each artist was sponsored to take part and the sponsorship money is still coming in.

Breakfast was donated by Waitrose in Caldicot and gave energy to the rest of the acts. As the day progressed the school saw representatives from every year group and had many visiting groups including CMYT and Mathern Male Voice Choir.

Spare change was collected from audience members and performers during the day, bringing the rising total to just over £400. The pupils finished the marathon performance with a 30-minute, non-stop jam based on The Final Countdown, after which everyone collapsed in a heap and then finally went home to catch up on sleep.

All the money raised is going straight to the Chepstow Food Bank.
