Petrified pooch Tiki ran from Monmouth to Raglan after being spooked by a low-flying hot air balloon.

Tiki the doberman was enjoying a walk over Vauxhall Fields with her owners Derek and Jennifer Hockey last Thursday evening (14th October) when the balloon frightened her.

"It flew very low across the field in the direction of the old Monnow Bridge and then continued low over the bottom end of the town," said Derek.

"Our terrified dog ran along the Rockfield Road towards the town, onto the dual carriageway, travelling south on the north bound hard shoulder until she left it at the Raglan Service Station.

"A vet from one of the practices in town was driving and saw Tiki. He stopped his car to slow the traffic and got out but she wouldn't go to him because she was too frightened."

Gwent Police confirmed they received reports of a dog on the A40 at around 5pm last Thursday.
