THE Society for the Welfare of Horses and Ponies (SWHP) in St Maughans launched its new website last Thursday (15th November).

The site, which has been funded by one of the society's committee members, is aimed at making it easier for visitors to access and use.

The website boasts facilities to read up on their latest news and rescues, scan through the events that the society has planned, and has merchandise for sale.

It is also possible to become a member or make a donation to the cause as well as to report a horse to SWHP that may need help.

"Sadly, we are not in a position to advertise a lot and so we need our website to be there to give out general information about us, and much more," said society Chairman, Jenny MacGregor.

"The website and Facebook are absolutely vital to us. A lot of horses are reported to us through the internet," said Jenny.

An adoption form is also available on the website for those interested in rehoming one of the animals in the charity's care.

SWHP mascot Sebastian the Shetland pony seems to approve of the new website as he is pictured here, investigating the new look.

The charity will also hold its Christmas open day on Sunday 2nd December. Doors will be open between 11am and 3pm where all rescues horses and ponies will be there to meet.

There will be gifts for sale including SWHP merchandise. There will also be a tombolla, raffle and refreshments.
