A brave young girl recovering from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, whose dream was to have her own animal shelter at the family farm, has had her wish come true.

National charity Round Table Children's Wish supported the building of a small shelter where Catherine Nicholas is now looking after her spring lambs.

Catherine, seven, who lives on the farm in Raglan with mum Rachel, dad Mark and 10-month old sister Lilly, is delighted with her wish.

Rachel said: "Catherine is farming mad and was desperate for her own little place where she could look after the animals.

"At the moment she is busy with the lambs that were born in the bad weather and require feeding. She loves giving them their milk from a bottle.

"We also have calves and piglets and I'm sure Catherine will have those in too.

"We are so grateful to Round Table Children's Wish for this; we can't keep the smile off her face and she wants to be in it all the time.

"She was diagnosed with leukaemia when she was two-and-a-half and has had a lot of treatment so it's great to see her enjoying life."

Round Table Children's Wish exists to grant wishes to children aged between four and 17 who have life-threatening illnesses.

They help poorly young people realise their dreams and bring some magical moments and wonderful memories into their lives.

Cathy White, from the charity, said: "It was a pleasure to grant Catherine's wish and we are delighted that we can help her on her way to fulfill her ambition of becoming a young farmer."
