Mr Davies reacted as rumours spread through the town over the weekend that response officers were going to be taken away from the station and placed elsewhere.
A Gwent police spokesperson told the Monmouthshire Beacon that response officers work out of a series of 'hubs' which provide a centralised base to report for duty, be briefed, tasked and collect a vehicle.
The spokesperson said: "Monmouth town will not receive a reduced service as response officers will continue to cover the same area.
"We have four hubs based in Tredegar, Cwmbran, Maindee and Blackwood. In addition to this we also currently have a sub-hub in Monmouth where some response officers sign on and off before patrolling across Gwent.
"On 1st February the sub-hub will be replaced by a fifth hub and, due to the geographical size of Monmouthshire, it will be split into two bases - one in Abergavenny and one in Chepstow. This will ensure that response officers have less time to travel from the hub to emergency calls in the Monmouthshire area.
