The fight for the British 125 CC Championship hotted up at the weekend when Ross rider, Luke Jones, was beaten into second place by his closest rival, Kev Coghlan, in the 7th round race at Knockhill in Scotland. Kev in first place took 25 points while Luke was second gaining 20 points. This means that Luke still leads the Championship with 132 points and Kev has 123. Intermittent downpours of rain throughout the meeting made tyre choice difficult. Luke was first in both the practice sessions and achieved his first pole position. He and Kev set a very fast pace right from the start, leaving the rest of the field trailing behind them. Luke led until the last corner when Kev made a move on the inside and held the lead to the line, winning by just half a bike's length, to the cheers of the Scottish crowd. Luke hopes to reverse the position at the next round at Oulton Park in Cheshire on July 15th. His brother Dean had hoped to race in the R6 Media Cup at knockhill but it was cancelled because of the weather.
