This year the ACE Monmouth Festival is taking place on Sunday, September 14th and the theme is “Make Do and Mend,” celebrating creativity, sustainability, and giving things new life.

This festival theme draws inspiration from the 1940s with a focus on food preservation, self-sufficiency, and repairing and reusing.

Monmouth Museum has loaned them a display of 1940 memorabilia including ration books and vintage recipes (potato peel pie anyone?). It promises to be a fun and inspiring day for all ages, with a wide range of stalls, activities, and entertainment. The Monmouth Community Fridge, Benthyg (the Library of Things), MCC Reuse Shop and the Repair Cafe will be showing what they offer, alongside cooking and fermenting demonstrations, T-shirt printing, and a delicious chickpea korma for you to try.The Cardiff Cycle Workshop will be offering free bike maintenance so bring along your bike and get it roadworthy.

You can also try out the Smoothie Bike challenge - pedal fast on an exercise bike to create your own smoothie!Local choirs will be performing throughout the day to keep the atmosphere lively and welcoming.

ACE Monmouth is a community group responding to the challenge of climate change by bringing people together. It hosts events, runs projects, shares information and works with other local groups on initiatives that will make a difference to all our futures.

Funded as a Monmouth Town Council Partnership, this not-for-profit organisation has its own constitution and is managed by local residents as volunteers.

Everyone is welcome to join in. There are lots of exciting initiatives underway and planned and many opportunities for people to participate. If you have an idea that falls under our six themes then please do get in touch.
