Damp but defiant, Monmouth Carnival was a triumph, last Sunday. Drummers, Gladiators and a bobby on a Penny-Farthing led the way through the crowds down Monnow Street, as the rain set in.
Then came Mayor Ann Were and Town Clerk, Sarah Robson and the two Mace Bearers, who had decided to continue the recent tradition of processing on foot, despite the weather.
