A CAR wash to raise money for a Magor three-year-old's wish to walk unaided, has raised £750.
Around 50 cars were washed at Magor last Sunday (23rd March) to raise money for Ruby Atkins who needs £40,000 for an operation to help her walk.
The toddler was diagnosed with bilateral cerebral palsy meaning her ability to walk unaided is restricted.
Ruby is in need of Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) treatment which would reduce spasticity in her legs.
Project manager at Mabey Bridge and friend of the Atkins family, Andy Hosking, will be taking on the Wales Three Peaks challenge this Saturday (29th March) to raise money for Ruby.
The 42-year-old will start in Abergavenny at 8am and walk over Blorenge, Sugar Loaf and Skirrid.
Mr Hosking said: "I've never done this before and I
wouldn't class myself as the fittest.
"I'm training in the gym three times a week for one and a half hours to get myself ready but I am nervous.
"My other half is friends with Rachael, Ruby's mother. So I've known Ruby since she was born.
"Antony, Ruby's dad, has pledged to walk with me and two others will be there to give me moral support.
"So far I've raised around £300 for Ruby."
